Sherrie Lynn Lilley is very comfortable working with a client whose faith is important to them. The Clinician’s intake process does not include questions regarding potential client’s faith, religion, or spirituality. The Clinician identifies as a Christian who is very active in their faith tradition and is very comfortable sharing their own spiritual beliefs in sessions to assist in the therapeutic process as appropriate. The Clinician is open to incorporating holistic practices in therapy sessions with client's consent or request including mindfulness, prayer, scripture, and bibliotherapy including faith, religious, or spiritual books/literature.
“Although my faith is part of my core values and shapes my personal beliefs, imposing these on another is not a part of my therapeutic approach. However, I do believe that every client experiences my faith in God as expressed through the attributes such as kindness, thoughtfulness, understanding, empathy and care. These are a direct reflection of the love of God and are more important to me than any words spoken about faith. I seek to honor the person and let faith shine through in the way I show support and care..”
